The Notre Dame Collegiate Music Department is the most diverse music program in Alberta. While we offer standard Concert Bands and common Big Band Jazz courses, we are one of very few schools with a full String Orchestra, Marching Band, Jazz Combos, and two highly unique Steel Pan Ensembles.
Our programs are also very high-performing programs, winning Superior, Gold and Distinction awards consistently at music festivals, including the Highwood Lions Music Festival, Strathmore Performing Arts Festival, and the Regina Music Festival. We also consistently have students participate in honour bands hosted by the Alberta Band Association and the University of Alberta.
Notre Dame Collegiate also works hard to ensure musical opportunities are available to all students regardless of ability to afford fees. To do this, we rely on donations and support from the community. These donations and contributions support the maintenance of our musical equipment, the payment of the increasing costs for travel and accommodations for festivals, as well as the increasing festival costs. In the 2025-2026 School Year, the Senior Concert Band is looking to travel to the Heritage Music Festival in Montréal, so any support we receive will also assist in managing flight costs as well as instruments we would need to rent while in Québec.
